I am finally home from my first international missions trip! My first days back have been spent adjusting back to EST, including 25 hours of sleep in a 30-hour span of time………… oh my! The transition back has been smooth and even less emotional than I predicted; the reason being unexpected process time. I am still absorbing so much of my incredible experience that words escape me when asked, “How was your trip?” Know that it was beyond what I could have fathomed or asked for and I will share as I am ready – which I hope to be soon.
For now, my mind is busy with preparations for my second trip – I leave in under 12 weeks! (October 8th) I am planning a Bunco night and other social parties, a child care raffle, letters, and more! Ideas and hands-on help are welcome and appreciated.
Online giving looks a little bit different with a site update. Here is the new information:
Give Directly (to someone’s trip):
- First time users click “Create An Account”
- Under “Give” select “One Time Donation”
- Select “Raleigh” as the campus
- Enter amount in “Mission Trip Support”
- Enter traveler’s name and trip name under “Include a message”
Siara Mims, Uganda, October
- Input your card information
Of course, you are welcome to donate other ways – change jars, mailed checks or money orders, cash. You are always encouraged to give as you feel led, but there is never pressure. My support team is a WHOLE lot more than money – I continue to need prayers, encouragement, and others to share my story! I even have cards that you can hand out. 🙂
Thank you, from the top of my heart, for all that you do.
Lots of Love,

I will be journaling during my trip and writing here after I return stateside!
Please feel free to leave comments here, on Facebook, or email me as I will have limited connection in Africa. Yay! 🙂
Lots of love to all of you!
Less than 37 hours…
And on one hand, nonetheless! AH! Cannot believe there are just 5 days…as a matter of fact, in exactly 5 days, I will have just left DC headed toward Ethiopia. Cannot even believe my own words. I have been blessed with a few days off and will be using it to rest, hydrate, and prepare all of my supplies! I am so incredibly appreciative for the outpouring of love, things, and monies.
Any last minute advice, suggestions, questions? Still need to pack GF – what are the must haves? 😉
Looking forward to every moment of this trip and sharing it all with you when I return!
Lots of Love,
I am continually in awe of your love and sacrifice – thank you! For those of you still looking to help, here are a few more things I would like to have before I fly out at 6am on July 10th! Keep in mind that I do not expect everything provided for me (nor has it been)!:
- Long shorts/capris/thin pants, size 14
- Undershorts (for skirts) M/L
- Non-drowsy Dramamine and/or other motion sickness meds
- LED flashlight and/or headlamp
- Excellent bug spray
- GF Snacks
- Camping backpack
- Above-ankle socks
As I’ve said, any of these things will be a luxury 🙂
Remember how I spoke about my Mamie saying that she wanted to buy me a new dress for Africa? Turns out that she had several beautiful long skirts and tank tops that fit and will be perfect for my time with the mums! I cried thinking about just how “tickled pink” she would be to know that she had very helpful clothes in her very own closet. I hope you’re resting in peace, Mamie. ❤
As I collect the last few things for my first trip, funding for my second is heavy on my heart. Plane purchasing funds are due at the end of July, so I’d love to have more advocates sharing my story! All of you have given above and beyond what I could have imagined. Thank you for sticking it out with me and supporting another trip so soon! Remember that every single dollar matters and all can be tax-deductible!
Hello dear friends and supporters!
Lots of news. I finally received my passport and immunizations- woohoo! And also very importantly, I am fully funded!! I am so thrilled and blessed by all of the contributions. As always, thank you for sacrificing financially, intentionally praying, committing to support in many ways, and encouraging my passion!
I also found out that my maternal Grandma Helen “Mamie,” passed away yesterday. She was SO excited for my Africa trip and was telling many other people, posting my support letter, and working with someone to help me with clothes. In one of our last conversations, she said, “I’m gonna buy you a beautiful new dress next month!” ❤ My heart hurts because I miss her deeply. But I can also find comfort and joy knowing that she is so excited to be in Heaven. She will always be in my heart and maybe even with me in Africa.
Not only am I fully funded, but was given $300 over what I needed! So, I already 10% of the funding for my second trip to Uganda in October! I know, I haven’t even gone the first time and I’m already signing up for trip #2! But I understand my passion for this ministry.
I will post details about both trips and their connection soon! For now, please continue to SHARE my story! I would love to have your help in this way as I prepare for the July trip! Half of the funds will be due not long after I return, so please spread the word! I’m also taking new and unique fundraising ideas – let me hear ’em!

Lots of Love!,
Just five and a half weeks until we land in Kampala! In our ten days in Uganda, we will travel to Gulu, spend time building, hosting a field day and then a carnival day for the kids, and pampering the mums! I can’t decide which part I’m most excited about. I am so ready to soak up every moment.
Less than $200 until I reach my goal! Click the photo to donate online 🙂
Thank you for all of the support. Lots of Love!
Our team leaders showed this beautiful video to kickstart our Uganda Team meeting on Sunday! I get chill bumps and teary when I watch it! CANNOT WAIT!
